Thoughtless Thursday *cough* ''Tuesday''... Shh!

Glass ball photography next, so cool what you can do! Please, don't ask me why the pictures are not all aligned correctly... I cannot align them for some reason, and it is slowly eating away at me! XD

The News! (I'm an Auntie!)

I have returned- and returned an auntie!
A little addition before I start this quick post:
I am aware I have been gone for a while (on my other blog the 'nails of the week' picture kind of turned into 'nails for the past month and a half') and I am sorry about that but I just wanted to have a bit of a break, and this is just something for me to enjoy and do when I want to, hence the erratic posting schedule. Now on with the show!

An awesome picture of a supernova
Ok, so I am auntie to a little baby girl! I think that she is just slightly under the average weight for a newborn but not dangerously underweight or anything like that. She already has lots of hair and I think that she may grow up to have darkish brown hair, which is a good colour to have! Oh, and her eyes are so bright blue and big and cute. She has lovely eyes!

I also really like one of the middle names she has which I will tell you, but first I just want to say I'm not going to tell you any of the first or second names (due to privacy) so don't think it's odd I missed out her first. Anyway the middle name is 'Nova' which I think this is so cute because I looked up the definition of supernova (where the name came from) and it is this:

'a star that suddenly increases greatly in brightness'

So yeah, it's all very cute and I am extremely proud and over the moon that I'm an auntie, and to such a wonderful, healthy girl! Signed, Geekling. xx

A Q and A with myself!

Hello there my little unicorns! So, on many of the 'vlogs' I watch, I see the big YouTuber stars doing a Q and A. As my blog is only tiny and I don't have many viewers (the 7,000 views you see above have, believe me, taken years of posting, and not posting, to gain!) I thought I'd just write a list of questions and answer them myself. You may call it sad? I call it quicker.

1) Things that annoy me!

  • When a video starts buffering, or the wifi goes down right in the middle of when I doing something which requires a lot of phone data!
  • Hypocrites.
  • When I smudge my nails just as I have finished painting them.
  •  One that really bugged me when I was younger was when whoever was teaching us didn't rub all of what they had wrote off the whiteboard, and left like one bit of pen on the board and all you wanted to do was stand up, grab the rubber out of their hand and just do a big long swipe over the board, cause uurgh! XD Anyone else experienced that when they were at school?
My dog

2) Favourite smell?

Oooh, this is a tough one- why did I ask myself this? I really like vanilla, quite a classic cozy (it doesn't think cozy is a word!? It just underlined it with a squiggle!) smell, but I recently bought a pineapple candle and that was really summery and refreshing. I also love freshly cut grass, pear drops, coconut, petrol, freshly baked anything and cinnamon. I think I love cinnamon so much because it reminds me of Christmas. And who doesn't like Christmas?

3) What three things could I not live without? (Discluding necessities like vital food, water, warmth and a roof over your head)
  • My family- for obvious reasons (this includes my dog etc)
  • Music- I love just putting my headphones in and putting my songs on shuffle.
  • I can't pick out of cake, Sherlock, nail polish or the ability to draw? Probably cake and cupcakes because they make me happy. :)
4) Current favourite songs?
Not in any order but I like, Breathe Me by Sia, Come as You Are by Nirvana, Not Afraid (been my favourite song for almost a year now) by Eminem, the live Brits performance of Bloodstream by Ed Sheeran, Hold my Hand by Jess Glyne and ooh! I really like one of the live tour performances of Flawless by Beyonce, which has Nicki Minaj rapping in it too.

5) If I could be anyone (alive) who would I be and why?
Probably Keira Knightley because she is so beautiful, but has also experienced acting (needless to say with Benedict Cumberbatch) and I hear she is a good singer too!

6) Favourite book?
Looking for Alaska by John Green. It's quite a controversial book, especially about whether the themes in it are appropriate for John Green's typical audience, but the ending is so beautiful! And the journey is funny and emotional. The cardboard coffee table was one of the funniest bits! XD

7) Dream holiday?
I really want to travel. There is a beach somewhere with pink sand! I want to visit quirky places, but also the usual dream-worthy holidays such as New York at Christmas time and Greece with its cute little houses, white sand and clear, clear water!

8) Best present I ever got?
My dog, Tike!

9) If I could dye my hair any colour, what would it be?
My aim in life is to have a year, where each month I dye it a different abnormal colour. I used to be really 'if I was a natural blonde then why change it, many people want to dye their hair like this', but now I just want it lilac, pastel pink, turquoise, blue, silver, black, deep purple, bright red, mahogany and dark brown! I also want really light blonde hair with pink dip dye and turquoise dip dye and just crazy, crazy hair!

10) If I could have dinner (on a huge 10 seater table!) with anyone, who would it be?
Eerm, ok.
It's techincally meant to be 9 people ( So I can sit at the table too) but let's just pretend that it is an odd 11 seater table!?
Sitting next to me on my left would be Benedict Cumberbatch. On my right, sitting next to me, would be Emmeline Pankhurst. Then next to Benedict would be Zoe (or Zoella, a youtuber) and sitting next to Emmeline Pankhurst would be Tanya and Gabby (youtubers). Finally Keira Knightley and Roald Dahl and then Emma Watson and Cara Delevigne. Oh one more person Sia!

Hope you enjoyed! Signed, Geekling. xx

Favourite Quotes

Haven't seen this post anywhere, so I thought I could do it. I like quotes and try to memorise my favourites (other people put feelings and the world so much clearer and better than I do!) and some of them are just so beautiful, so yeah. Thought I'd share my favourites- some of these are from songs and books but others are just normal ones... hope that made sense?

* In no particular order*

1) 'Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning' - Peter Pan
I like this quote because it is so magical and for some reason I just imagine flying through the night in my pyjamas, across all the sleeping people and the dark streets and it makes me feel all cosy inside!

2) 'Tell the negative committee that meets inside your head to sit down and shut up'- Ann Bradford
A good quote for someone who has really low- confidence. If we followed this quote daily then I bet we would all be a lot happier and more confident.
chose this because it was the best picture out of all the quotes

3) 'Thomas Edison's last words were ''it's very beautiful over there.'' I don't know where 'there' is. But I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful' - Thomas Edison and John Green (From Looking For Alaska- my favourite book in the whole world!)
Wow, a fairly long quote, but it is one of my favourites (partly the reason why it's my favourite book) it's just very inspirational and thought- provoking.

4) 'There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky. You ask 'what if I fall?'. Oh, but darling what if you fly?' - Erin Hanson
I just imagine a wise woman telling me this, and it spurs me on to do things I perhaps am nervous about doing!

5) 'Hearts are wild creatures- that's why our ribs are cages'- unknown
Not usually a fan of quotes about love and relationships but this quote is so beautifully poetic, so I had to include it!

6) 'Some people dream of success... while others wake up and work hard at it'- Eminem/ Mark Zuckerburg (Googled it and they both said it so I didn't know who to put!)
Which is what I try to do everyday, so I guess I like it because it reflects my life. It also says its not going to be easy, and you're going to have to work hard. But that's alright if you are chasing your dreams.

7)  'They are beautiful people- But that's their job!'- Jim Chapman
He said this in one of his YouTube videos and it is so good. I'd never thought about it like this before. The people we see and judge ourselves on, are often paid to look like that because it is their job, and they are just good at their job!

8) 'I'd shoot for the moon but I'm too buys gazing at the stars'- Eminem, Not Afraid.
I'm not entirely sure what this quote is trying to say, but I interpret it probably completely different to what it actually means! I think, for me, it is saying that they are trying to reach their goals but you need to just occasionally stop and take in all the good things around you.

Ooh, I almost forgot. I'm trying to do a picture a post (that I've taken) and so this is the spectacular glass roof in one of Bletchley Park's buildings. I recently visited there and I highly recommend it!

Well, that's it for now my little chickpeas! Speak to you soon, hopefully. Sorry that the posts are a bit erraticly (not a word) scheduled but I only do them when I have some spare time on my hands. Love you all. Signed, Geekling. xx

Thoughtless Thursday (it's Tuesday but oh well!)

Before I 'reverted to Draft' all my old posts, the most popular ones were Thoughtless Thursdays, so just like flares... I'm bringing them back! Although this post, kind of just, fuelled my obsession with rose gold. Sorry! By the way the editing of these pictures almost eliminated what little sanity I had left!
*These pictures are not my own, they are ones open to the public on Pinterest, by having them on my blog I see it as a compliment that the pictures are really good, but feel free to ask me to remove them.*

My Favourites (It's all a bit muddled!)

Hello! (*whispers* is it me your looking for?*)

Ok, so I've cottoned on that a lot of people are doing monthly favourites so I thought I'd hop on the bandwagon and join in- just for the lols! So yeah, I've got quite a few but I'll keep the writing to a minimum. Number one is...

1) Brownie Pie!
It sounds quite weird (especially because some people associate pie with meat and savoury pastry!) but it is basically a gooey brownie inside a sweet pastry case... they are delicious. I got the recipe from a Baking book, but I'm sure if you Googled it you could make it too!

2) Pinterest.
A lot of you probably already know what Pinterest is but if you don't I'll explain it for you! It is basically an app you can get on your smartphone or online and you can type in a word or choose a category and it shows loads and loads of other 'pinners' pictures. You can then either like the image and/ or pin it on a board you can create. So it's basically like virtual scrapbooking but with other people's images! (Although you can post your own too) It's hard to explain but if you want to try it out to see what it's like, a good word to type in is 'iridescent'... it brings up loads of pretty and quirky shiny things!

3) The Comic Relief Nail Wraps!
In case you hadn't already noticed;
a) I am obsessed with all things nails!
And b) It is Comic Relief this Friday!
So get involved and do something funny for money, or support the cause by buying something from their range. I went for a nose (I got Snorbit!) and these cute and fun nail wraps... I can't wait to use them!

4) My Sherlock Necklace
Well I also really like Sherlock (...and the actor who plays him!) and so I was recieved this as a gift, and it is a necklace with a kind of graphic design of Sherlock (from the TV adaptation) on it, it's just the prefect gift for me! As I got it for a gift I don't know where it came from, so I'm going to guess Etsy, as that site sells things like this.

5) Money Super Market's TV advert!
I know this is so random, but it makes me smile every time I see or hear it... so I shared the link with you guys so you can have a laugh too.

6) Rose Gold!
I also got bought a set of bath and beauty goodies (I'm a very lucky lady!) and all of them had rose gold lids on the bottles and it has just reignited my love of the metal By the way, this is also a good phrase to search for in Pinterest XD! I know want rose gold hair, rose gold headphones, rose gold lights and rose gold stationary! This photo is one of my fave's because it looks so vintage but it also has a funny story behind it. The perfume wouldn't spray properly so I looked to see if the end was clear and sprayed it straight into my eye. So yeah, just an insight into my incredible stupidity there!

7) Scaffold Piercings
Some people call them industrial piercings but y'know 'po-tay-to' 'po-tar-ta'! I find them quirky and a bit different. I also really like this bar, so if I did get them done (which is hopefully happening) I would get the arrow. It's like the one from Hunger Games! Oh, by the way, this isn't my image so if you want it removed by all means comment and I will replace it/ take it down.
Thanks for reading. Sorry for abandoning you for a while, it's just my life has been busy and changing quite a bit for me so I've been struggling to find time/ mindset to post. Hugs, Geekling. xx

Good books... Do you Dare to Read?

Hello everybody! So I recently read a horror book called 'sleepless' written by Lou Morgan. I had never read anything like this book before, or even in the horror genre but it was really good! It's the kind of book that makes you read about 5 chapters when you were only planning on reading for a few minutes!

This one is 'Frozen Charlotte'
A little note that it is definitely one for young adults-adults and no younger. The details and plot twists can sometimes be incredibly graphic, gory and nightmare worthy.

I don't want to spoil too much but it's about a group of friends who take a pill in an attempt to get good test results in a school where scores are deeply important. Anyway the pill has consequences that they could never have imagined and things go from creepy to crazed... The ending. Oh my goodness the ending! I don't want to spoil it but the ending is so clever.

I liked the book so much that I got another book from the same kind of group/ series( Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell) and I'll probably report back a mini review of that too!

See you soon my little iced gems, signed Geekling. x
By the way, please ignore the fact that the text is highlighted in white! Oopsies!
